Good to know before you travel to Vilnius, Lithuania:

Public Transportation: Vilnius has excellent and well-organized public transportation. Although the city does not have a metro system, it has an efficient bus and trolleybus network. You can pay using the Trafi app (available on Apple and Android) or with a credit card directly on the bus.
Tipping: Leaving a tip in most restaurants is not mandatory, but it's always appreciated.
Language: Lithuanian is the official language of the city, and Russian is quite popular. Most locals speak good English and are happy to assist you if needed.

Arrival from/to the airport:

Vilnius Airport is conveniently located about 20 minutes by car from the city center. There are several ways to travel between the airport and the city:

1. Taxi:

-On Arrival: Use the Bolt app to order a taxi upon arrival or use the Taxis available at the airport.

2. Public Transportation or Train: Download the Trafi app to pay for the bus, check schedules, and track bus locations. This option is available during public transport's operating hours, but may be less convenient for those with a lot of luggage.

3.Car Rental: Renting a car at the airport provides flexibility and convenience for your travels.

Tax-Free:

The city is known, among other things, for its wide variety of shopping areas and relatively affordable prices.
Anyone who is not a permanent resident in Europe can receive a tax refund of approximately up to 11-14% (depending on the commission of the company that refunds the tax) for all purchases in the city in the amount of 40 euros.
In most stores you can ask the cashier for a tax refund form, most places work with Global Blue
In order to receive the form, you need to present a passport (which is not European) and fill in several details.
On the day of your flight you must go to the customs officials in order to get their stamp on all the forms, it is very important to keep the items in their original packaging/with the original receipt, and of course do this process before depositing your luggage because the customs representative will ask to see all the products you are requesting Tax Return.
After completing all the forms, you have two options to receive the refund in cash/credit:

1. Go to a change office at the airport that works with Global Blue and receive the refund in cash.

2. Send the signed forms in the envelope you received to Global Blue through designated mailboxes in the airport, this way you can only get a refund by credit and it will take more time.
